No Place Like Home

You know that famous saying there is no place like home…It’s so true….I had been away for a few days with my family. We headed up north again to the camp where we had gone before. The weather cal calling for rain and thunder showers all weekend, but we still took the chance and packed up the car.

On our way there it poured cats and dog. You could hardly see anything on the road. It was dark, gloomy, raining and thunder…We contemplated turning back but all came to the conclusion that we have nothing to loose. It’s go up north or stick around the house.

By the time we got to the place the weather cleared up and it was perfect.

Once we unpacked my father and I headed over to the bait shop to get live bait and worms. We came to fish and fish we were…LOL

When we got back to the trailer we finished unpacking our things and headed down to the river.

Unfortunately the fish were not biting that evening. It had been raining a lot there and the water levels were up. The current was also strong so that affected everything. By night time the rain had come back. It was a big time downpour but we were inside and it was already late. So that was ok..

By the next morning the water current was still strong and the water had turned a brown color. We gave it another shot and went fishing. We weren’t really hopeful since the water conditions were not good. When the water is this unclear the fish cant see the food. With the current being so strong their food would float down stream and they got what they needed.

After a while we were going to return to the trailer since it was getting hotter and the bugs were biting. I was getting ready to go when i saw something was biting my worm.

I bet you are wondering what?

I caught a bass. He was a medium sized fish. We let him go because bass season is still not open and you aren’t able to keep them if you do catch them.

Later on in the day we took a walk around the camp site to look around and then some company came to join us for a fire.

There were a lot of dragon-flies coming around us and i wanted to get a photo of one. I spotted one sitting on the window frame of the trailer and I was lucky enough to get close enough to take a photo.

There were so many caterpillars, bugs and little animals there all around us.

Here is a caterpillar that kept coming around the stairs to the trailer…

It was nice to sit around the campfire when company joined us and just chit chat. The black flies and mosquitoes were attacking like crazy but once we lit the citronella hives they sort off backed off.

By Sunday my father and I were up by 5:30 am while my mother slept in. For Fathers day we went fishing again.

I was sitting next to my dad watching the fishing rod and another large dragon-fly sat a few centimeters away from me. It sat there for a good twenty minutes. So I figured I might as well take another shot. They are such beautiful creatures.

We also had the chance to see a baby beaver come swim up to the dock where we were. I wasn’t able to take a shot because we popped his head out and dove quickly under. When he reappeared he was a few feet away and then dove back under again.

After dinner my parents were sitting and talking and I was reading Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Phantom In The Night and noticed butterflies were coming over to the picnic table and sitting down on our dogs brown blanket. They were sitting there just flapping their wings. The orange was so bright and beautiful. I decided to grab my camera and headed outside.

As you can see I love photography. I have always loved shooting pictures especially when I was growing up. I use to go to a lot of concerts and always manged to get such great shots of the performers on stage. Shots that were rare and one of a kind.

We left the camp today at around 9am and we got home not to long ago. The weather wasn’t too bad. There were small showers along the way but it was still sunny and warm. We drove by two fires. One we could not tell if it was a forest fire but the other was near the highway we were driving.

The firefighters were on the scene and it appeared like someone had tossed old tires and set them on fire right in the middle of a forested area. Some people are unbelievable to do such things. Hopefully the fire was put out and it didn’t spread.

All and all it was a great weekend with the family. I read some, edited Love In The Fast-lane a.k.a Pleasure Behind The Wheel. I should be done this month with all the edits and then I will start the next round if the need arises.

I will say, it’s nice to be back home. I have a nice tan and some burns from all the time in the sun and I have bites all over me. Some the size of a quarter but it’s worth it. I also got back to over seven thousand emails and tons to catch up but I don’t mind.

I hope that you all had a great weekend. Happy late father’s day. I hope all the dad’s had a special day and enjoyed it a lot.

Now it’s time for me to get back to finishing reading those emails. I still have to do some work before the night is done.
