Last night many sci fi fans were glued to their TV. Yes I was one of them who sat and waited to watch the series finally of Battlestar Galactica. After four seasons the series bid farewell. I waited all week for this one day…It all came down to this two hour showdown. There had been so much hype and talk about what the end would be like….After sitting through the two hour eppy all I will say is wow….I even cried at some parts.
SPOILER ALERT
The part when the Battlestar jumped from the Cylon bay ship and started to break apart had me clutching at my chair. They had gone through so much just to have that happen.
I was a bit surprised at the fact that they made the decision to abandon all technology and start over. Just settle on the land with the clothes on their backs. Start fresh.
It was an emotional rollercoaster that kept you screaming and crying during the whole episode.

I will say there were things that left me going oh my gosh…what….
Seeing Kara Thrace vanish at the end just as Admiral Adama took off in a raptor with President Roslin to show her the land. We all knew that Kara was meant to have some kind of journey and from her vanishing we now know she’d fulfilled it. She saved the human race by taking them to earth.
I balled my eyes out when Roslin died during the flight with Adama.
The one thing I loved was how the very end everything came full circle. The human race had survived and grown.
With the end of this amazing show fans of BSG will be left with a spin-off called Caprica that premiers in April when the pilot comes to DVD. Then the show beings to air Jan 2010. Caprica features none of the well know BSG cast but it introduces us to Caprica and the Adama family.
Fans will also have the BSG cast return in a movie called The Plan. That is all about the Plan that the cylons have. It will be a take of things from their side. I can’t wait to see this.
The amazing part of being a BSG fan is that the show was filmed here in Vancouver, Canada.
There were a ton of BSG parties going on around the city as fans bid farewell to their favorite show. People from all over gathered in one place for one thing. To share the love of a show. It is amazing when a tv show can do that.
As a huge BSG fan I shall miss the show but it will live on with the die hard fans.
I for one will always be a fan….
So say we all……..
Oh my, I also cried my eyes out. Especially at the scene where Anders took the remaining flight into the sun and the score was from the original series. I thought what a beautiful tribute and acknowledgment to the vision that began this epic retelling.
When it first heard they were remaking BSG, I was so excited. Then I began to have my doubts when I heard the casting decision about Starbuck! But I gave it a chance and now, I think Katee was the right choice. The updated vision speaks to everything revelant to today’s society, giving us a reflection into ourselves, the best and worst.
And yes, I’m still feeling the loss, shock, and the frakking sense of awe.
So say we all.
I agree that the scene with Anders was amazing..It was the farewell to the battlestar and signaled an end to a journey.
There will never be another show like BSG. I really wish it never came to an end…..
So say we all……………
OK, so now I’ve watched the four-hour marathon I had stored on my DVR and yes–I cried when Roslyn died. And I agree that the homage to the original series when they played the music as the fleet flew into the sun was also incredible. I really expected Adama to crash the raptor and die with her. I was surprised when he was sitting by her grave and talking to her. And then, of course, the ending in Times Square kind of blew me away as well.
As for casting Katee Sackoff as Starbuck, as soon as I saw her, I realized that they HAD to change the gender. Dirk Benedict played that role so well, that I don’t think audiences would have accepted anyone else. Casting a woman as Starbuck was the only way to keep people from comparing whoever took the role to Dirk.
And Richard Hatch STILL gives great hugs!
