This morning many residents in Toronto woke up to news that there was a huge fire that burned a Townhouse complex down. We had not seen the news or heard anything as we commuted in the am and when we got to a street called Burnhamthorpe we noticed a huge lineup of cars, police and TV.
As we neared we saw there was a fire….
Sadly at 11pm last night a fire broke out at a new Townhouse complex that was being built.
This is a video someone posted just as the blaze started in the night…
As we were on our way and this is the video we got of what is left of the place…
We were shocked since this same place burned down in February of this year. They were nearing completion and it was torched. They decided to rebuild and this happened…. It is so sad since this time they lost so much more. The place was close to being done for some of the units..
This is what is left of the homes as the fire department still continues to work on putting out the blaze. They estimate the damage to be 10 million and up…55 units were lost during the fire…Nobody was inside the palce, the only injuries were sustained by 2 firemen….
Here is a link to one of out TV stations with coverage from the area.

If someone did set this place on fire I think this is just horrible. How can you do that?
Savannah

Whoa! That would be horrible if someone did set it.
So sorry for the ones who lost property or belongings in this fire. I do hope they made it out with their lives though, that is the most important asset!
Kissa
Nobody lived there yet but people were to move in during the fall…@ firemen were injured and no other injuries were reported….It is just so sad…..
Oh that is awful!
Hopefully, if it is arson, the authorities will nab the torcher. What’s so awful besides the loss to the devlepoer is that the fire could have spread to other homes or buildings.
Great pics, Savannah. Did you use your camera or phone? I can’t believe the clarity. You should be a reporter. :O) Excellent coverage, lady.
Savannah…so sorry to learn of this. It does happen to new construction…but twice? Very strange. Hope those firefighters recover quickly. True heroes.
Bonnie
It seems like arson if it’s happened twice when it’s neared completion. I’m so sorry for the people who lost their potential homes, but so grateful no one died!
Firefighters really are heroes…
I wonder if they will rebuild. I want them to. I don’t want the arsonists to win (if it is arson), but I can see difficulty in getting them built for a third time. The poor people who have lost their homes. I know they aren’t there, but they were planning to. How many of them had given notice to their landlords, how many of them had already sold the house they were living in. It is just horrible
Bonnie, yeah….It is sad for all the people who were to move in this fall…They are treating it as a crime scene since now it is twice this place has burned….
Inara, the police and fire dept suspect it to be arsen….It is just too weird….
Yes they are heroes for sure….
Natasha, I think it would be bad luck to build again and I don’t think people will buy the units after 2 fires have hit the place..People will worry……It is just to tragic….
I think arson is such a horrid crime because it needlessly puts lives in danger. It must be heartbreaking for the people involved.
Shelly I agree, fire is something you can’t control…what happens if it goes out of control..how many lives can it affect…
Sarah, it was a digital camera…I have always loved taking pictures..it was something I was good at….I took them to send over to the news..they post viewer pics they get on the news….
