If you have been to the site before you know that I love telling you about the adventures I have when I take time off. It is time for another adventure. We went away for the first time this year….The weather network said it would be warm and perfect. That just made it even better…..We went to the place we had gone before and I was really looking forward to it.

When we arrived and were unpacking I was met by this little guy in the above picture. He was sitting right in front of the trailer…..He only moved a few jumps and stayed there for a while. After we got settled we went by the strawberry farm that was about ten minutes away. I’d never been there but I’d heard that they had such yummy strawberries….We had to go and check it out. When we arrived the farm was packed and people were walking out with tons of baskets full of strawberries…This farm you pick your own….

We ended up walking out with three baskets….And by the end of the weekend we wished we had gotten more…The farm was closed due to weather and we were not able to get more for the trip home..

The whole time we were there chipmunks were running around the grass and coming up to the trailer…They would even jump on the picnic table and come towards you… They were not scared at all…
We had some nice weather but the first night we were hit with a terrible storm, the rain came down like crazy and the winds plus thunder and lightning were just bad…You can imagine sleeping in a trailer while this kind of weather hits…
By the next morning it cleared up but not for long…By the afternoon it was back again….
With this bad weather I got to do some editing and work on two of my current books..Yes I know I should be relaxing..I can’t help it…
Sunday afternoon while my father was fishing I spotted a catfish mom with her babies swimming at the shore near the docks….I knew I had to take some pictures and video..When do you see a sight like this….I’ve never had the chance to see something so amazing…

She stayed at the docks for a good hour while I took picks and shot some video. I was so close to it and it didn’t even go away. My camera was about thirty cm from the water…
The video above is one I took…

Sunday night we had an adventure. We were woken up at around 3:30am by a noise outside the trailer. We thought it might have been raccoons going at it in the trash can…Urm….Nope…
To our shock there was something much much bigger outside the window…Yes a bear…and he was going at the trash like a buffet. We made sure to lock the trash can but he still got in…You could hear him as he crushed the metal trays that were inside. We have never had a bear come to the camp for all the years my family has gone there…We have had deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, snakes but not bears.
You can guess that our night was not full of sleep since we were not sure what he would do next.
By Monday we were exhausted….The weather was not good, it was cold and windy and we were ready to go home.
I got to see another frog as we were packing…This yellow frog was in the bushes. This guy was the size of your palm. You know me, I had to take a picture….
The trip home wasn’t so bad…All of us are exhausted and glad to have out beds back….I’m a bit disappointed since there were not much fish, the weather was bad, and I don’t feel as relaxed as I hoped to. But at least I got some fresh air and got away from the city. I’m hoping that our next trip whenever it comes will turn out better…
I will say I did get to see some amazing animals and being out in the open was nice. The fresh air is always good, no traffic, no pollution…Getting to see all the animals was a treat….When you live in the city you don’t see wildlife like out there.
Until next time….Keep an eye out for more adventures…
Savannah

Wow! Savannah! You take such good pics! I need you on my vacations taking my pics for me! I’m horrible~
Loved the catfish video. That was so cool you got to so close!
Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you survived your bear encounter. There have been a lot of documentaries on TV about how brazen bears are becoming. All my years camping, I’ve never seen one. I bet your heart was pumping big time! How scary but cool at the same time!
Sarah, sure I will be your personal photog….
The catfish was amazing, I have never seen anything so amazing….I was glad I got to catch it on video….who knows if I will ever get to see something like that again… Yes One bear is all I need…I don’t want to see one up so close again…
I always enjoy stopping by your blog Savannah. It sounds like your summer is going really well. I would have personally run from that bear. Grin! xo’s
