Watch Out: Gina Gordon

SC: Welcome to another wonderful edition of my weekly feature Watch Out. This week I am so thrilled to welcome a friend and fellow author Gina Gordon-who is very talented I might add.

Welcome Gina, it is such a pleasure to have you as my guest this week.

SC:For those readers who are new to you and your work, please tell them a little about yourself.

GG:I write contemporary erotica and romance. I love everything about cupcakes and I tend to throw books across the room that don’t end in a happily ever after. That has stopped now that I have my Kindle lol I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband and quirky dog. Oh, and I actually have the pleasure of knowing Savannah in real life!!

SC:I saw on your site that growing up you were a fan of the Babysitters Club books. Something we have in common. So what was the first steamy book you read?

GG:I had read romance and chick lit…but my first major steam—using the good words—was Stranger by Megan Hart. It was a complete accident, but a life changing accident. I had no idea that the erotic romance genre even existed because no one talks about it. It’s the favorite thing that woman like to whisper about.

SC:I must say your current releases have some hot covers. Do you think a cover is just as important as a story?

GG:Covers are just as important as the story. Definitely! I have to admit there have been a few times when I haven’t purchased a book simply because the cover didn’t speak to me. There are so many great covers out there, so many hot male bodies to ogle!

SC:What are you currently reading?

GG:A slew of Harlequin Blaze books to get me in the spirit for my next project.

SC:Any habits while you write?

GG:I can only write in a few certain places in my house. I have a couch that acts as a muse and sometimes the dining room table.

SC:If you were not an author what is one dream job you would love to have?

GG:If I wasn’t a writer I would still want to work in this industry. I would love to be the merchandiser for Harlequin…setting up all the books in the stores. Dream come true!

SC:What is the best advice you ever got as a writer?

GG:Build a backlist!! Other than keep writing, I think this is the most valuable piece of advice I have ever gotten and now pass on to others. If you are looking to build a career in this industry, follow this advice.

SC:Can you tell us a little about your current releases?

GG:My current release is Forever In Lingerie. It is the first story in my Bare Naked Designs series. Each story focuses on one piece of lingerie that the hero accidentally catches the heroine wearing. Book two will be released in April 2011.

SC:What is the one thing that surprises you in the writing industry?

GG:The camaraderie. I was amazed at how supportive this community is and I never expected to make such wonderful friends.

SC:What is the one dream you hope to accomplish as an author?

GG:I would love to make a living as a full time writer. But even if that never happens, I would love to see my name in print one day. Even if only once.

SC:Can you tell us about anything new you are currently working on or any new releases?

GG:Well, I mentioned book two of the Bare Naked Designs series come out in April 2011, Temptation In Lingerie. I am currently writing book three. I also have a novella, The Only Exception, that will be released by Breathless Press in January 2011.

SC:What do you think about when people say you should write what is currently trendy and not what you want?

GG:It could work for some people. But personally, I don’t worry about that. I write what I know and I write what I love.

SC:Two of your books are available as audio books. Have you had the chance to listen to your books? What did you think the first time you heard your story as an audio book?

GG:LOL…listening to my audio books was the one and only time I would ever agree with those people who say that romance is porn. Boy, did I blush!! It is so realistic. But fantastic. It is one thing to read your dirty words but to have them spoken out loud…a whole different level of hotness.

SC:Which do you prefer e-books or paperbacks?

GG:Both!! I am addicted to the written word and it doesn’t matter what format.

SC:Any advice you want to pass on to people who want to write and get into publishing?

GG:Write, write and write some more. Don’t give up on your dream and don’t be scared of it. I hid from my passion for a long time and it’s really hard not to regret the time I wasted. But I am following my dream and I won’t ever look back.

SC:Where can readers find more info about you and your work?

GG:You can visit my website at www.ginagordon.net
