WATCH OUT: Suzannah Safi Interview
I want to welcome you all to another edition of Watch Out. This week I’m excited to bring you author Suzannah Safi.
Welcome to Watch Out, Suzannah, it is so great to have you here.
SC: For the readers out there who might not know about you or your work, can you please tell them a little about yourself.
Suzannah: Thanks for having me, Savannah. About me, I’m a romance author, a promoter, and a graphic designer. I have many novels and short stories that are published with different publishers. Many novels and short stories are in progress just can’t talk about them yet.
Now to the other side of me, as a romance author, I wanted to promote myself and other authors and I’ve created Romance Alley and you can check it at www.romancealley.suzannahsafi.com also Cocktails Fiction and Gossip Magazine, a magazine that promotes authors in all fiction genres at http://www.wix.com/cocktailsmagazine/fictionandgossip
My other passion, being a freelance designer; I created my own Book Trailer Company, you can visit my company’s website at www.design.suzannahsafi.com
I wanted to do something that I enjoy, have passion for, and I found that writing, promoting, and designing book trailers and covers are my real passion so I’m doing that and proud of what I’ve accomplished.
SC: Can you tell us a little about your current release?
Suzannah: ‘Adrenaline Rush – Rule Breaker’ is the name of my new erotic romance short story in a new erotic romance line I’m calling “Adrenaline shots”. It’s about a woman who didn’t know that she wanted more than what she had. The story is about different lifestyle some live and experience.
You can see the trailer here, enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnjVRnHwav0
SC: You mentioned in your bio you were a painter but due to writing it has been put on hold. Do you ever see yourself painting again in the future?
Suzannah: I would love too lol, but now I have too much on my plate that I can’t get to painting, but my artistic talent is fulfilled in graphic design.
SC: Which do you prefer eBooks or paperback?
Suzannah: Both, each has its benefit.
SC: What influences the topics, and genre’s that you pick to write a story in?
Suzannah: Everything and anything. I’m very observant, the smallest things capture my attention and I web a story around it.
SC: One thing readers might be surprised to know about you?
Suzannah: Well, some readers think that if I wrote about something that means I have been there, done it, and experienced it. It may come as a surprise to some that I never experienced any of the fantasies or fiction I wrote, but may have seen something, talked to someone and was told about it. Most of my stories are based on people’s experiences and places I visited. Talking to people and getting their stories is so much fun, and with my creative mind a story is always cooking.
SC: Do you think writing a character with flaws makes the story more relatable to the reader?
Suzannah: Absolutely, when you read a story, you want to relate to the character or even an event. Real people are not perfect, so your characters should be the same.
SC: How much reality do you like in your stories?
Suzannah: All my stories have reality in them to a degree, some I push the boundaries especially with paranormal and fantasies. But the key here is to make your story real and believable that what you are reading is really happening. To me all my stories are real and have been experienced by my characters, and they are real to me lol.
SC: What’s your guilty pleasure (if any)?
Suzannah: I’m an achiever, seven years ago I wanted to be a published author, and I accomplished that, then I wanted to be a promoter and I have two promo opportunities for authors and myself – Romance Alley and Cocktails Fiction and Gossip Magazine, then I wanted to be a graphic designer and I have my company BTD, where I create book trailers, book covers, and promo materials for authors, publishers, and companies. My next stop is going back to school again to have a degree in graphic design and hopefully I will achieve that as well. So, achievement is my guilty pleasure because the more I achieve the more I want to accomplish, it makes me happy being busy lol.
SC: Your favourite part about being an author?
Suzannah: Living in each story is just priceless. I enjoy writing because I get to live different lives, experience what I can’t in my daily life. My motto is: safer in a book.
SC: What are you currently reading?
Suzannah: I read a lot, but currently I’m reading for Kresley Cole.
SC: What do you think sets your stories apart from other authors?
Suzannah: Twists, I have a twist in every corner lol.
SC: Is there anything you’re currently working on that you can give us a taste of?
Suzannah: Oh yeah, my latest contracted novel is paranormal/horror romance. In chapter 2 I have a scene that happened to my husband when he was in his youth walking through the mountain with his cousin going to his grandparent’s house. That scene scared the crap out of me and I wanted to share LOL.
SC: What is the best advice you ever got with regards to writing?
Suzannah: Enjoy writing, listen to your critique partners, read a lot, learn never say I learned enough – it’s never enough, and never give up.
SC: Any advice for new writers out there?
Suzannah: Same as the above.
SC:Where can readers find out more about you and your work?

Great interview. I admire that Suzannah is actively pursuing not one, not two, but three of her passions all at once.
