WATCH OUT: Raine Delight
SC: I want to welcome you all to another edition of Watch Out. This week I’m pleased to bring you author Raine Delight. Welcome to Watch Out, Raine, it is so great to have you here.
Raine: Thanks for having me Savannah. I am thrilled to be here.
SC: For the readers out there who might not know about you or your work, can you please tell them a little about yourself.
Raine: *Smiles* Sure…here is my official bio:
Raine Delight loves to be pampered by her harem of men that exist solely for her pleasure. Wait…..that was in a movie she saw. Hey, she can dream. J Raine loves to fight with her muse, attack her manuscripts and find a way to silence the many voices in her head. Inspiration hits at odd times and for Raine, a blank word document page gives her many possibilities on story ideas. Living with her two kids, a significant other who supports her every move in writing and doesn’t seem to mind she gets up at 2 am to type away on the computer. With a love for Johnny Depp, movies and 80’s hair bands, Raine finds a way to bring all her chaotic thoughts into a story that tells her readers about love and romance.
SC: Can you tell us a little about your current release?
Raine: Sure can. I am excited to announce that Secret Cravings Publsihing is releasing the first five books in the Devon Falls series one right after another starting Aug. 1st with Sticky Magic, Sept. has Red Hot Magic, October is Fiery Magic, November is Haunting Magic and December has Moonlight & Magic.
Sticky Magic kicks off the entire series and introduces the readers to the town of Devon Falls, a place where paranormals of all kinds live, work and fall in love with as they live side by side with humans. I want to note that Books 1-4 have been re-edited, rewritten and expanded for release as they were previously released elsewhere. Book five, Moonlight and Magic is a brand new tale in the Devon Falls world.
SC: Which do you prefer eBooks or paperback?
Raine: I prefer both actually. I love reading e-books but also need to have my favourite books in print as well. J
SC: What influences the topics, and genre’s that you pick to write a story in?
Raine: Actually it can be obscure article, song lyric, a passing memory…anything inspires me really. For my MMF ménage story, Space Pirates: Bounty, I used my love of Firefly’s Nathan Fillan & Pirates of Caribbean’s Capt. Jack Sparrow to do my version of a Sci-fi story with two heroes who are absolutely delicious and a heroine who tames them both.
SC: One thing readers might be surprised to know about you?
Raine: I am actually pretty shy around people…really…I am LOL
SC: What is the biggest misconception you think people have about erotic authors?
Raine: That what we write is all porn when that is not the case at all. *stands on soapbox* I don’t write porn where it’s all about sex…I write a romance between two (or more) people who find love, sex, and emotions come into play. My stories show that love does transcend the boundaries and I won’t write closed door sex scenes at all. I like sex and no I haven’t done any of my sex scenes in real life. *gets down off soapbox* Sorry, it irks me that people have this misconception that all erotic romance authors write for Hustler or something. *shakes head*
SC: Your favourite part about being an author?
Raine: The fun of creating a new story and seeing where my muse takes me.
SC: What authors can be found in your library of books?
Raine: *blinks* Which bookcase or my e-reader do you want me to look at? *smiles* I have five bookcases stacked from Sherrilyn Kenyon, JD Robb, LA Banks, Terri Garrey, Robin D. Owens, Jim Butcher to a host of others. On the E-reader I got my ebook titles ranging from Andrew Grey, Angel Martinez, Sue Brown, Silvia Violet, Cherise Sinclair, Belinda McBride and many more.
SC: Currently listening to?
Raine: Rock Mafia’s Big Bang….saw the video one day on vacation in April and loved the song.
SC: Any guilty pleasures?
Raine: Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory…my one sinful indulgence. J
SC: Describe your books in 3 words.
Raine: Short, Sweet and Sexy
SC: If you could step into the shoes of another author who would you pick? Why?
Raine: Sherrilyn Kenyon….she is the one author I admire and strive to be when I grow up. J
SC: What do you think sets your stories apart from other authors?
Raine: I am not sure…the characters and the story I am hoping. J I have heard so many good things on my books that readers can fall in love with. J
SC: Is there anything you’re currently working on that you can give us a taste of?
Raine: Actually…..I am in edits for Red Hot Magic and Fiery Magic rioght now. RHM comes out September and FM comes out in October but here is a taste of my super hot Space Pirates: Bounty…..Coming late this year….Sci-fi Menage (MMF)
Can one woman find a way to save her friend while falling in love with the sexiest space pirates this side of the galaxy?
Kara Griffin is determined to save her friend, Reggie from the alien slavers but what she finds is a love with two of the hottest space pirates this side of the galaxy. Capt. Rafe Gregory and his first mate, Tyrese are shocked to find a woman stow away on their ship but soon find themselves falling for this feisty earthling. The chase is on…the question is who won’t win but who will fall fast and hard when these three come together in passion and desire.
This is unedited so please forgive the mistakes.
Scene set up: Kara was f ound unconscious by Rafe and Ty and she awoke in their sick bay. This is there first meeting after finding her….
“So, finally, you’re awake. How are you feeling?”
Blinking at the man, Kara snapped, “How do you think I feel? I have bruises on top of bruises, cuts, welts and a freaking knot on my head which aches like no tomorrow. I am filthy, longing for a shower and you ask me how I am?” She laughed hysterically, wincing as pain radiated down her side and behind her eyes. Drawing a breath she closed her eyes and waited for the tap dance behind her eyes to subside a bit. Her arms wrapped around her chest, she tried to still her temper and fear.
“I don’t even know what the hell happened and you ask how I am?” Grumbling about moronic jerks, she glared at the man she assumed to be the captain, “I feel like I was run over by a freaking truck. How do you think I feel?” She saw both men look at one another and smirked at their bewildered expressions. Guess they never had a pissed off woman yelling at them before.
The bald-headed man crossed over to a cabinet and grabbed a towel. Placing it on the table she was on, he looked over at Rafe then back to Kara. Clearing his throat, he quietly stated, “Miss, we didn’t mean any harm. Please go take a shower so we can see if we need to stitch anything up and then we can talk. I can see you are not happy or comfortable right now.” He glanced up at the other man and smiled, “My name is Tyrese but you can call me Ty and this one glaring holes in a wall is Rafe. He is the captain of this ship, The Lost Lady. His bark is worse than his bite…really. I’ll go get some coffee and food. I am sure you are hungry.” Kara watched the smaller man pull the other out of the room and grinned at the thought of hot shower. It has been so long and damn if she wasn’t going to enjoy every minute of it.
SC: What is the best advice you ever got with regards to writing?
Raine: Write…then write some more. Also…write what you love to read.
SC: What is one pet peeve you have when it comes to publishing?
Raine: Not enough time to write lately. Seems RL and my Day Job come in between it. L
SC: Any advice for new writers out there?
Raine: Talk to established authors, you will learn a lot from them. Take classes online or at local RWA chapters if so inclined on subjects that you can use as research. Get the Marshall’s Plan for Writing books to help you out and other works like it.
SC: Where can readers find out more about you and your work?
