Due to the development of the last few days with regards to authors, bloggers and others being sued for photo use I’ve removed all photo’s I do not own. There will no longer be Hump Day until I can figure something out and purchase some hunk pics to post on the site.

I’m doing the same thing. This is kind of pathetic actually. As I delete photos from my blog that were not used with malicious intent or for profit, I continually see my books being offered for free or for sale on pirate sites and can’t do &^%# all about it (in most cases anyway).
I guess we’ll have to find some man flesh elsewhere… 🙁

BL, each one I delete is like ripping my site apart. I never posted stuff with malicious intent either and would credit every person. It does kill to know we are getting sued while our books get stolen and on purpose to use them for their own benefit and there is nothing we can do.

Damn! Wonder if I should do this? How prevalent is this?
[Reply]
Julia, more people are coming forward with getting in shit for it and dealing with law suits so I’m taking it serious.

I’m going to do the same thing. 🙁 I like looking at the hunky men, but even the hottest isn’t worth the risk! 😀
[Reply]
I did the same. Also deleted my Pintrest account, though it broke my heart. Not worth the risk. Also, since I don’t want someone using my content without my consent, I shouldn’t use others’.

I’ve always stuck with using content from Flickr and CC that is CC licensed for commercial use. That way you don’t have issues. I don’t pin stuff at Pinterest that doesn’t have a pin button beside it on the originating site, but I’m not sure what the rules are for repinning what someone else pinned.

I did the same thing *cries* It just wasn’t worth it. But i had a ton of pics and it was a real PITA to remove all of them!!! LOL Sucks!!! 🙁

I feel your pain. I just did the same thing this morning. If it didn’t come from my camera or a guest, it was removed. I have never opened a Pinterest account for that same reason.

I’m lucky enough that I haven’t been blogging for long, but I did the same thing tonight. It has made me very sad, but it was necessary. With all of this stuff happening, I’m very grateful to NOT have a Pinterest account.

I hear ya, Savannah. I’ll be doing the same. We still support your amazing blog and will still read!

I’ve heard from many authors and everyone is pretty much removing pictures from their site that they do not own or can’t give credit to the photographer for. We need to figure out a new way to bring the hot pics back..
[Reply]
I know. I did the same thing. I have a bunch of ld posts that really sound dumb without the coordinating photos.
And I was told that even if you give credit to the photographer, they can still sue you.

Thanks so much for the ‘heads up’ Savannah. Removed all my pics too. Stock photo sites here I come.

I’ve been looking through things. I’ve tried to never use something I didn’t own, or give credit. I’m going to remove the ones I gave ‘credit’ to.

I did the same thing. Now I’m giving my blog a makeover and only using pictures I purchase or take myself. I didn’t realize we were doing wrong by using Google Images, but now that I’m aware I won’t do it anymore.

I think a lot of people are doing this, Savannah. Roni’s post has created huge waves.
[Reply]
Oh, I read a post over at Roni’s as well about this issue. Gosh, it’s shocking! Ow..I will miss Hump Day but better safe than sorry.
[Reply]
I understand but it makes me sad.
[Reply]
I’m still looking at possible ways to get pictures back on here and not worry. These pics will be owned and paid for.
[Reply]
I think it’s sad, but I totally understand. 🙁
