Music Monday: Mattyas ft Kristina

This week I want to introduce you to a new artist. I discovered this song by accident last week while clicking new music on You Tube. His name is Mattyas and this is the video for his single Secret Love. The single also features the guest vocals of Kristina.
For one I love the song and the video is fantastic. It sorta reminds me of my freebie story Perfect View that I wrote a few years ago.

If you haven’t read Perfect View check it out on the Book page of the Free Reads page.
Hope you like the song and video.
Enjoy

Embrace What You Have: Be Sexy Be Curvy

Photobucket I think this blog topic has been a long time coming. It took me a while to post it because I wanted it to be just right. As you will see as you continue to read on, this topic really did get to me.

I think the big push came this week as I was channel surfing and pretty much everything that was on were so called reality shows. I happened to stop on one to see what all the hype was about since I remembered seeing all these commercials for it.

It was some new show about finding love, but the catch was you could not see the person and how they look until the very end. I figured, OK this is different. Maybe this will give people the chance to take a risk on love without all the hangup men and women have on looks.
Did they?

NO

At the end when the lights came back on the participants were still focusing on looks. The way they felt while dating with no light on was different than what they felt when the light’s came back on, and they got to see the opposite sex.

One of the girls was iffy about meeting the guy again because he had an earring, then a guy was iffy about meeting the girl again now in the light because of how she looked. She kept saying how she’s not skinny like the other contestants, and she’s more curvy and so on. What really got me was the fact that the so called curvy girl was pretty, and honestly there was nothing wrong with her. She also wasn’t that curvy. Yes maybe the other girl was smaller in size but not that much.

The thing that bugs me the most is when you look at TV shows, so called reality shows you never ever see real curvy women. I think I have only once seen a curvy female on one of the modeling shows. Other then that all the females that are on TV now are skinny and some are sick looking. If there is a curvey girl she is usually kept in the back and not a lead.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not hating on skinny girls, that is far from it but ther’sis a big difference between skinny girls and well sickly skinny.

Photobucket

Come on, who the hell finds this to be attractive? Is this the new thing, to look sickly? If that is the case than let me say I will not be following the trend. I like the little junk I have in my trunk.

It gets on my last nerve that the message we have all been pretty much brain washed to believe is that if a woman has curvy and some meat on her that is not sexy. Can I ask why not?

What the hell is wrong with a woman that is healthy looking? Nothing.

As a woman I feel tired of seeing magazines with airbrushed covers of women who look the so called perfect. Even now female models that do have a little meat on them are being so altered that you can’t even recognize them.

Is this message something our society thinks is beauty and perfect?

As a writer when I write my characters I try to have my female lead be as one would say a bit with meat. I don’t want her to be a pencil. I want her to be real, someone we can relate to when we read her story. I want her to be strong and beautiful even if she has curves.

I ask you all, what do you think about the image that is out there of women and men? Do you want to read about characters in books that are curvy and voluptuous? What do you find sexy?
