HN: You’re a busy woman. How do you balance your day job, your personal life and
writing?SC: Sometimes it is hard to balance everything. You make plans and try to set
goals but things come up and throw you off track. I have made a routine to write at
least 1000 words a day. So when I have time I sit down and write. It is usually in
the evening. That is when I write my best.
HN: How long did it take you to write your first book?SC: It took me about 7 months to write. When I first started writing it I never
intended it to become a book. To me it was a story I had in my head. One that
wouldn’t stop bugging me. I just kept writing and writing.
HN: I know that many authors have a different approach to writing. Do you outline
your story before writing it?SC: Honestly it depends on the story. Certain story ideas just come to me like a
flood and I sit down and write. Then there are some stories were I only get a scene
of the book and I have to sit down and plot it. Put down all the major details.
HN: I know you’re just getting started in publishing. Many new authors start out
and find it stressful to try to fit in and get to know fellow writers. What has your
experience been?SC: My experience has been amazing. From the very start I was welcomed by fellow
writers and published authors like I was one of them. They have all been very
helpful and some have gone out of their way to give me advice or point me down
the right direction. Some of these have been big name authors. I have met such
different and exceptional people who I have quickly become friends with.
HN: What is your inspiration for your books?SC: I have a very wild imagination and for me inspiration hits at all times. I get
inspired at all hours of the day and it doesn’t matter what I am doing. If I get an
idea I have to write it down. I always make sure to have a pen and paper with me. I
even sleep with a notebook next to me since stories also tend to come to me in the
middle of the night.
HN: Many authors say they base their characters on traits they wish they
themselves possessed, or could find in a partner; do you find this to be the case
with your characters?SC: I won’t say that I don’t because a few of my characters have had traits that I
would love to have. Each character has that spark in them that makes them unique.
When it comes to traits that I would want in a partner, yes it would be nice to find a
guy who is like one of my characters. Who wouldn’t want a man like that?
HN: What are the most difficult scenes for you to write?SC: It really depends on the story that I am writing on. It is hard to say that one
thing might be difficult to write. Sometimes it can be the first scene in the book and
other times it can be the very end.
HN: Do you find it difficult to keep your sex scenes from becoming too routine?SC: Actually I don’t. I seem to have an easy time making the sex hot and non
routine. Once I get a story going the characters just point me in the direction they
want, and how they want it.
HN: What do you think is one of the biggest misconceptions about erotic romance?SC: That would have to be that erotic romance is “porn”. I have lost count the
amount of time I have heard someone say that. Or the other comment is “oh you
write smut”. People automatically assume that erotic romance is just that. They
label it even before they read any of it.
HN: Are there any places you’d like to publish?SC: There are many places that I would not like, but love, to publish. To name a
few, Harlequin, Kensington, Ellora’s Cave, Dark Eden Press, Twilight Fantasies,
Phaze. The list goes on and on. I just want to be able to hold a book that I have
written in my hand and be able to say this is my work.
HN: I’m going to get a little personal for our readers; if you don’t feel comfortable
answering feel free to say so.HN: Is there anybody special in your life that inspires your writing?
SC: Oh don’t worry about getting personal. Fire away…
I tend to observe a lot, people and just life in general. That’s what inspires me, and
no there isn’t anyone special in my life that inspires me.HN: Are you dating or looking to date right now?
SC: At the moment I’m single and looking. I haven’t found that special guy yet.HN: What are you looking for in a relationship?
SC: I’m a hopeless romantic. I love doing spontaneous things. I love trying new
things. Its okay if dates are non traditional. I am looking for a guy who will show me
respect, who is supportive of what I do. Someone who is honest and hard working
has a good head on their shoulders.HN: Thank you Savannah for being the first of many author interviews at Harem
Nights. Do you have a website or chat group you’d like to tell our readers about?
